The ministry said in a statement that “at around 17:05 today (Monday), the Israeli enemy launched an air strike targeting a civilian car in the Mazzeh residential neighborhood of Damascus, which led to the martyrdom of two civilians, the injury of three others, and material damage to private property in the surrounding area.”
The official Syrian news agency SANA had earlier reported “a car explosion in one of the neighborhoods of the Mazzeh area in Damascus.”
A journalist for Agence France-Presse saw a completely burned car at the site of the explosion, in addition to damage to the facade of a hotel adjacent to the explosion site near the Syrian Ministry of Information.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that “an Israeli drone targeted the car opposite a hotel and near the Ministry of Information building in Mazzeh, Damascus.”
The area, which includes a UN office, has been subjected to several Israeli raids recently.
